JUDY LAMPPU

Cat Cohen Colleague

Judy is a producer, writer, and singer who was a member of Los Angeles Women In Music’s Board of Directors and who has helped develop LAWIM over the last 7 years.  Judy enjoys promoting information about upcoming events and goals surrounding the organization. She and her husband Steve Scott founded the Coalition of Songwriter and Music Organizations (COSMO) which unites many grass roots music organizations and helps they work together to promote more successful events and share resources.

For the past few years, Lamppu has been writing and producing a CD/book project dealing with the loss of loved ones and the struggle for those of us who remain to return, rebuild and renew. When the tragic events of 9/11 were upon us, her reaction to do what she could turned immediately to share the music she had been creating, and to ask some of her friends to contribute. The compilation effort required full production elements of arranging, recording, mixing, and final packaging.  Judy’s music-film credits include 3 features for Chako Productions - title songs: “Forever And Beyond,” “The Survival Game” and “Bouncin’ Back,” distributor, Toho worldwide.  Music for TV documentaries: “Last Of The American Hobos” (5 songs) for Public Broadcasting and cable syndication; “Rape of The Environment” for KTLA, L.A. and syndication; after school special, “Antonio And The Mayor” (co-wrote with Mort Stevens) for CBS-TV, the TV pilot for the “Minnie Pearl Show” (4 songs under direction of Lionel Newman) for Fox / April Blackwood Music, and Judy was Co-executive producer / music supervisor for “The Youth in Film Awards,” an independent pilot.

She is the reigning Ms. Senior Santa Clara, and has written a new theme song for the Ms Senior California Pageant.  She is also developing her one-woman show in tribute to her former employer, Doris Day, “Judy Celebrates the Music of Doris,” for which she is co-writing a closing original song about Doris with composer Jimmie Haskell.  You can hear an in-depth interview of Judy on Dr. Arlene Barro’s Internet radio show at www.blogtalkradio.com  or click on the link at her LinkedIn page.

Cat Cohen and Judy have been part of many LA music industry events together and both have participated in Elisabeth Howard’s Vocal Power performance competitions.
