Clarence is an exceptionally talented musical treasure whose career spans more than forty years of sublime influence as a writer, producer, performer and arranger.

 

Comfortable within any genre of music, McDonald's keyboard performances have been recorded with an incredible list of entertainment icons including Ray Charles, Barbra Streisand, Ella Fitzgerald, Justin Timberlake, Hall & Oates, Aretha Franklin, James Taylor, Bill Withers, Smokey Robinson, The Jackson 5, Carole King, Seals & Crofts, Tina Turner, David T. Walker and the Carpenters, just to name a few.

 

Music lovers around the world know very well McDonald's piano, Fender Rhodes, and synthesizer work on musical milestones such as Best of My Love, Lovely Day, How Sweet It Is, Shower The People, Silly, That's What Friends Are For, Summer Breeze, Sara Smile, and Love Never Dies, and many more. The list is nearly three-hundred songs long, and includes many, many top 10 singles, Platinum and Gold records, and Grammy winners and nominees.

 

McDonald's newest project his, wonderfully, his own. LIVE FROM HOLLYWOOD, recorded live at Catalina's Jazz Club in Hollywood, California with his band EVOLUTION, is a dynamic offering that has been well received by audience and press alike. The energy of the performances is electric and moving.

 

Clarence uses Yamaha's S90ES digital keyboard, the Wind MIDI Controller WX5, in addition to the Yamaha Grand Piano to accomplish his signature sounds.

 

Clarence and Cat Cohen worked together in the late 1970s and early 1980s.  When Clarence played on Freddie Hubbard’s Splash album, he brought in Cat’s tunes “I Want To Touchdown With You” penned with Don (Tracy) Malloy and “Splash” penned with Thurlene Johnson.
